Hi all,
Hope I've posted in the right place.
New to the forum and thought I’d say hello! I’ve just picked up a red 1967 Hillman Imp that hasn’t moved or started in over 25 years. It’s a proper little barn find, dusty, tired, but from what i could see seems to be solid in all the right places, and for the price, I couldn’t really say no!
The plan is to get it running, MOT’d, and eventually out doing a few hill climbs. I’ve always had a soft spot for Imps, and this one just felt like a good base for a fun project that I can tinker with and gradually develop.
I’ve been reading up on how to get into hill climbing, licences, safety kit, classes, all that good stuff and I think I’ll be in Class A1 (Road Cars – Series Production up to 1400cc) once it’s back on the road. Please correct me if I’ve got that wrong.
For now, priority number one is just to get it fired up for the first time in decades and see what I’m working with.
After that it’ll be the usual brakes, suspension, fluids, and anything else that’s turned to dust or seized solid. Long term I’d like to get it on a few local hills and see how it goes before doing any serious upgrades.
If anyone here runs an Imp or does a bit of hill climbing, I’d love to hear about your setups or see your threads. Always good to get ideas and inspiration!
Thanks
kc
