Thought I would share my keep warm in winter mod with you chaps,
Basically I love cruising the hillman but when takes 10 minutes to de ice, and the full journey to work to get Luke warm he tends to get left out, in favour of the escort van!
So this little mod requires minimal hacking of your car, a few things are important to make it work.
Firstly fit a 88 degree stat ( put 74 back in for May)
The bypass hose from the valve block next to rad to the back of the head needs a restrictor with a 4 mm hole, this stops the water from going round in circles and forces it out of the back of the head up the drivers side wing, massively helping keep you warm !
I also have a 12 volt in line bilge fan from a boat to boost the air flow to the car, also using long nose pliers you can bend the fins on the grill to assist the air flow.
So now when I feel myself getting grumpy I can get my hillman fix any weather ????
