As stated above it was a bare shell and boxes of bits.
I have at least 2 of everything except the shell, bonnet and boot as the PO bought a job lot of stuff, including, according to the sales bill, a completely rebuilt and not run motor. But it was built in 1980!! But sure, enough, one motor has brand new unused oil in it.....and it's a L4 version, other one is a MK1.
So far, I stone chipped and top coated the underside, sandblasted suspension parts and painted them with 2K.
I put it on its side to make it easier to assembly and it's coming along nicely.

Rear wishbones were well rusty, so chopped the bottom off so it could be sandblasted, then welded new plates on

The rebuild so far...nice new shiny GAZ front springs/shox and a disc brake conversion yet to be fitted.

And now for something completely different......ever looked at a Lancia Fulvia 1.3 V4 motor? Narrow angle V4, 90bhp as standard.

They look made to fit in an Imp.....so I buyed one.
With a 20mm spacer it mounts nicely on the Imp bell housing, even the starter motor port lines up!
But the engine does incline a further 12.5 degrees, so work to do on the inlet manifold, sump and oil pickup.

It's just knocked up using an MDF plate to see if it's feasible....but all lookss good so far. And the bloke I bought the engine off said he has seen one in an Imp, so that gives a bit of confidence it'll work.

So, what did we learn today?.......FIT THE BLOODY THROTTLE CABLE BEFORE FITTING THE SUSPENSION!!!!!

Still, a quick mod and sorted. I tapped the 2 clearance holes 1/4" unfortunately, put screws in from the outside so as to have studs poking through the body work. Had to wrench of the weld nuts inside though. But at least I can now change it easily if the need arises.

Yes, brake, clutch lines, fuel line is another one that needs fitted plus throttle cable.

Did you have any isues on the brackets on the steering rack ? I usually weld a small bar across the top of the 2 bolt heads that secure the floating bracket so it can be undone and tightened while in place.

Hi John, yes, someone had already done that mod for me.

It's all good fun though, like being given a mechano set but without the instructions!

I assume there is a flex hose to connect the clutch line to the gearbox, do you have any photos of the location in the engine bay so I can make the pipe?
