Grease Caps

Mike has sent me a pair of stainless steel grease caps for appraisal. I managed to get time to fit the offside version today, and thus far I'm very impressed. The fit is tight enough to need a gentle knock with a dead blow hammer to fully locate it. It looks quite smart on its own, to be honest, but the initial reason for Mike to even think about getting these produced was in order to allow the plastic "chrome" centre caps supplied with most alloys to actually be able to be fitted to the front wheels. And fit they do . So far - so good. Please be assured that the centre cap has fitted OVER Mike's stainless item

I have to agree with John, they look good on their Todd.. Very smart.
Now how much will they cost?? ?. £40.00 possibly? Is that a fair price or not?

They are certainly nice. Not an easy thing to produce with the required accuracy I'd say.. But I've never doubted Mike's products, nor commitment to making unusual but necessary items. They will be quite popular. Its always been an annoyance that I couldn't get my wheel centres on the fronts. I looked into getting some new standard grease caps chrome plated, but to get decent new ones, polished smooth and chromed was far too long winded and expensive. These new items will give owners an attractive dual option. Brilliant.

Andy, yes they are really nice, I have always just settled for a nice gloss black on the original caps, but ones not beat to heck are getting harder to find now

Well then John. Soon you could have a nice bit of bling on the front instead of black paint. I reckon they might polish up too, with a bit of effort. And no plating to eventually flake off either.

Andy, the stainless bumper I just got polish to a mirror finish, pretty much as good as chrome so mikes probably would as well.

Thats the front one on Andy, but as usual I have the absolute worst luck and two over riders were not reat, they are replacing them so the back will need to wait.

Full front end on, the spots are just dangling as I will need to make new spot brackets for them, I have the material here just finding time

The stainless polished finish is astounding. Remains to be seen how long it lasts

I fitted the nearside one today. All fine - speedo works properly so really no issues. I'm considering polishing, or more truthfully having someone else do it for me, the front face of these, and not bother with the plastic wheel centres at all. Shame to hide them away anyhoo . Others might prefer the mill finish. Get your orders in quick ! Those near John Ross might like to find out where he got his bumpers done ?

Ashford wanted over £1,500 to rechrome the originals and the usual parts bandits were lookig for £800+ for a NOS set

I already seen some on Bill Penmans car and I could not tell the difference, peter Nunney also has a set.

Likely the car will need to live outside Andy so stainless seemed like a good idea ll round

I had another thought today when talking to Mike Dent : being flat faced means that one could stick a badge on the face of the grease caps, further enhancing their desirability over the standard items. There are loads of online people who will make badges to your design, domed if required. I'm off to design some "Impilite" wheel badges for my test items

Never tried them online Andy, I can do some here, metalised polyester but limitd in size and of course limited to B&W guess you coudl apply one and coat it.

Same material as serial number style labels, no ink.
