More engine advice required. Trying to establish the spec of my engine. I suspect it’s fitted with a carter BV head. I have found some numbers stamped on the block underneath the thermostat housing, I know Reg Pattern does this but I’ve spoken to him and he doesn’t have a record of the number. Has anyone successfully removed the accelerator pump discharge pipe from above the choke in a Solex carb and then replaced it? I have a feeling that the reason my car hesitates, almost to the point of stalling when I blip the throttle from idle, is some grit, or whatever, stuck in the pipe between the one way valve and the tip. Sometimes the flow is right through the choke but more often it either dribbles out or the flow goes at right angles against the side of the choke.
