I dug out my 998 short engine (told it was originally bought from Hartwell) from long term storage the other day and have been looking it over for numbers. The pictures are what I found. The original block was from a Rootes Imp Super and I’m guessing that as each piston has been stamped with RP10697 that this has been through the hands of Ray Payne.
