Looks like I might just get away with 3k grit again (if i can afford the discs FINE GRADES AINT CHEAP ! )



I cant do big chunks though as the weight of the electric mop is too much for my left side so down to using 50/75mm air polisher and it takes a bit.

Will get their in end, hopefully.

More fun chasing bumps and rattles

Found my drivers side upper rattle, damn fibreglass bonnet and a few high spots of paint rubbing the scuttle.

So cleaned off the old lumps of cutting compund




This stuffy is messy !

Not finished though, still plenty to do and will be getting the steel bonnet back out to fix shortly as soon as good weather out

In the mean time back to door seals

On top of the driver side upper rattle ther has been a wind noise on passenger side

I ordered same seals as Gary used to give them a bash but no go.

Looking here you would think there is not much in it.





After much effort I ended up putting the narrow bubble seal back in

This was the door closing result and nothing I could do to sort it without major door adjustment

So back in with the bubble seal and time to bash at the frame at least it relieves stress hitting it with a hammer !

Door seals always seem to be a bit of a nightmare which can incredibly frustrating thing to get correct. I bought the "original" style seal which didn't allow the doors to close at all. A waste of money really before fitting the small bubble type form Woolies trim I think it was.
A lot better now, not perfect but up against the glassfibre doors I have I am happy enough with the result.. No doubt I will suffer from road noise once I am out an about.. Some time soon I hope .

After modifying the camber on the front wheels so they don't look all wonky, the 7x13's I had on the front rubbed of the arches which isn't what I wanted I had purchased a fresh pair of 6x13 Ultralight wheels and gave them a splash of burnt orange so they matched the rears.
Hoping to get some tyres on them tomorrow morning after the paint dries.

They look a lot closer to the ones on DDG than standard minilites, I dont have any marks on DDG ones except size, standard and "preformance".

The orange will stick out.

I wonder how Keith is doing every time I see orangs a picture of his imp pops in my head !

Oops!! I don't know what I was thinking John as I've posted this into your build thread. Probably due to us talking about wheel sizes previously, sorry.
Take that out of there if you want, my mistake.

The 7x13s I have don't have any markings on them either but these ones have the size and Formula written on them although the company is Ultralight. They have a sharper edge to them where the rim meets the flat face of the polished area unlike some of the Minilights I looked at where they are much more rounder towards the outer edge if that makes sense?

If you know of anyone wanting 7x13's I have a pair for sale now.

I think Keith has recovered ok and he has been busy I understand.

Job ready to start but not by me.

I always wanted a decent set of proper finished trim pieces on thechammy and had this veneer for ages

So many tims I looked at doinfg this myself but like transaxles there is a bit of magic needed.

Still all the aprts are there, job pending

New discs here now so back to polishing paint again tomorrow, cost of compunds and fine grade disc extortionate to say the least especially brand ones. Cheap discs not worth it at fine grades

And back to the slog, weather gettuing better so decided the roof on the imp had bugged me enough.

Still has some scratches but worst is off.

So back to blocking wiith 1500, then 3k, then compound I am surprised there is any clear coat left.

Looks completely horrid and I did the lot this time by hand small bits at a time washing down in between





Comes up nice (so it should, been at it all day )





Still see some scratches but nout I can do, will take more ninja skills that I have



Damned annoying but can live with it, job for next winter (or even better a professional)

And another day polish, wash, polish.......

I coudl have fitted 2 floor pans faster !

Still got scratches but hopping I can use some shine to hide them until I can get to fix them properly, or might take it to local paint place and see if they have a magic solution now I have fixed most of my screw ups.

And after yet more flatting, polishing, cleaning..... the scratches are getting less and less although I think looking at the time spent I would be chepaer giving it to someone else to do professionaly and just pick up a fewdays work instead, my back will love me for it I reckon

Still spent the time to change over the bowls to the clear ones I have had sitting since last year

Passneger side done, drivers side to do which prsents a little challenge as I filled in the space there very well....

First carpet heel protector gave up, seems pretty poor show after only a few hundred miles.

And now either the roller bearing has let loose or the clutch or the clip has came out (latter is doubtful as I wired it in)

Well as well as the usual checks (DDG is losing coolant) seems at least the timinga nd fuel are now there or there abouts
