    Mk 1 Speedo - restoration

    I have just got a NOS speedo for bru MK1 imp.

    Can they been opened up to tidy up the inside?

    Dan, Yes

    Biggest pain is the seal on the glass, it will be rotted. When I did mine I just put a bead of instant gasket around it.

    I used a can of cheap white enamel for some parts, zinc primer and just some clearcoat for the rest

    Thought you might have bagged one in km/h and swapped for trip to france ?

        thanks john, did think about the km/h.

        Do i Just bend back the little tangs to open it up?

          yes, thats it, just bend the tangs back, high tech or what

          Just watch outting iut back in the binnacle, the pillars front and back are different heights, as you will see on my cracked glass image

          The zinc primer and satin clear was as close as i could find to a match to the colour

                  Scrap that questioned I’ve just change the inner and left the original outer!
