Always thought the water pump mounting a crap idea .
Its in the right place however having the two halves of the pump tightened up on the red plastic cowl just seems utter crap .
The plastic squashes , splits and generally gives up if you over tighten the four pump bolts which is often done to stop a gasket leak .
Anyway the Vuskys pump is on its way out and the cowl is split and cracked all to feck and fit for the bin .
Ive got two NOS cowls here but the thought of the plastic just cracking when fitting the pump just seemed stupid .
So ive sleeved one NOS cowl on the mount holes , these are pressed in and very tight and with thin washers either side should prevent the cowl moving , get the pump bolts tight and generally be a better idea - they are copper BTW .
No idea if it will actually work but we will see i guess

With the new pump thus far leak free attention turned to the leaky one .
Its been fitted over 12 years so something has given up.
After stripping down and a good clean up the cause soon became apparent .
Seat mating surface on the shaft was royally knackered - still a few minutes on a lathe soon sorted that out .
Case has been cleaned up - just waiting to fit the rebuild kit at some point
